Research Grants in Complementary and Alternative Health Care and Paediatrics
A request for research proposals in key areas within complementary and alternative health care for children and youth. Open to investigators affiliated to a Canadian institution.
The current deadline for Letter-of-Intent is May 30, 2008 (full proposals, if invited, will be October 15, 2008)

Research Grants

Home Care Research Grants
Researchers may obtain a maximum of $65,000 annually for up to 2 years to support research projects related to home and community care for children (including infants, children and youth up to the age of 18 years) and their families.
There is one deadline each year: April 6.

New Investigators Grants
For new investigators in the early stages of their careers. This award is offered in partnership with the CIHR's Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health.
The new investigator grant program is currently undergoing an external program review.
The next deadline will be in 2009, please check back in the Fall for an updated application package.

The goal of this Scholarship is to support the development of researchers interested in issues pertaining to children (from conception to 18 years old) and complementary and alternative health care.

Children's Health Agenda Grants

Children's Health Agenda Grants
Children's Health Agenda Grants will support the operating costs of national groups that are working towards an integrated and cohesive approach to child health in Canada. Funded organizations will, by establishing pan-Canadian networks and collaborative groups, be positioned to share knowledge, advocate, and influence child health policy, systems, research and practice.
Deadline: Proposals are accepted throughout the year, however please contact the Foundation to discuss your proposal prior to submitting.

Conference Funding

Conference Funding

Conference / Workshops / Symposia Funding
Grants of up to $5,000 for events related to child and youth health in Canada. Events must take place in Canada. Eligible events will have a focus on information sharing between health professionals, community organizations, and families. Academic conferences are not eligible for funding.
Dates: There are three deadlines for applications each year: May 31, September 30, and January 31.

Pediatric Scientist Development Program (PSDP)
This program is coordinated by the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs (AMSPDC) Inc. and SickKids Foundation is one of the program's funders, ensuring that Canadians are eligible for funding. The PSDP provides research training and career development support for pediatricians committed to careers in academic medicine. The PSDP offers an intense, full-time experience in basic, translational, or clinical training in eminent research laboratories in the U.S. and Canada. The goal of the PSDP is longitudinal protected continuous time for PSDP-supported research. Canadian candidates should identify themselves in the fall of the PL-4 year. Candidates must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.
