Our legacy of excellence.
Letter of support from the Compensation Committee
Sunday, July 15, 2007
As Chair of SickKids Foundation’s Compensation and Resource Management Committee, I am writing to underscore the Committee and the full Board’s complete confidence in and commitment to SickKids Foundation’s strategy of investing in top-calibre professional management to drive the very necessary and ambitious fundraising goals to support children’s health research and care at Sick Kids and across the country. We are convinced of the strategic merit of recruiting the best individuals, regardless of where they currently reside, and of compensating them accordingly. In fact, this investment has already proven itself in the dramatic and impressive increase in dollars raised by our Foundation team.
The Foundation has a well stated philosophy based on strong principles of performance management to compensate its executive team, and indeed its entire staff, on the basis of results and competitiveness in the market place. The excellence of paediatric research and care delivery at SickKids depends ever increasingly on the support of philanthropy and the community. Therefore, our ability to recruit and retain the very best fundraising management is key to securing the resources required to ensure the children of Toronto, Canada and the world have access to the very best care.
