2008/09 SKL Event Updates
Fight for Independence Event and Charity Auction
Hat's off to new SickKids Leaders James Estrin and Cailey Heaps Estrin who have undertaken a huge amount of event planning work as they help prepare for the Annual Fight for Independence event and charity auction. The event will be held on September 11, 2008 and will jointly benefit both Nazareth House and The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Emergency Department.

In 2007, the Fight for Independence event and charity auction drew a crowd of over 350 people who were ready to get their wallets out for a tremendously worthy cause. Last year, the event raised over $175,000 and the couple hopes to top that goal this year.

This year's event features catering by Chiado (one of Toronto's top restaurants), a martini bar, premium Steam Whistler pilsner, live music by SUGGAH, a cigar and port bar, six celebrity boxing matches as well as an auction and raffle.

The SickKids Leaders team wishes to congratulate the Estrins on taking on such a large-scale event. Best of luck!! We can't wait to see the photos!
2nd Annual Gala for SickKids

It's a unique evening where the proceeds will benefit one of Canada's most innovative health care providers - The Hospital for Sick Children.

The event is taking place at LeParc Conference and Banquet Centre in Concord, ON. The reception begins at 6:15 PM, followed by a presentation by SickKids and then dinner service at 7:45 PM. Following dinner, we hope you'll stay and kick up your heels with some entertainment and dancing.

Stay tuned for website updates and more event details.
2nd Inspirational Gala for Nicky's Dream for SickKids
On Friday, November 21, 2008, the De Luca family will host the 2nd Inspirational Gala for Nicky's Dream for SickKids, a gala event that features a silent auction, fine food, and wonderful entertainment. Last year's inaugural event raised $185,000 to fund excellence in research, care and education. This year, plans for the event continue to grow, and the De Luca family is hoping to have 1,000 guests in attendance, and surpass last year's fundraising goal.

This event is particularly special because it is a celebration of Nicky's spirit of generosity, and a powerful reminder to live each day to the fullest. The event is supported by Nicky's closest loved ones who are inspired by Nicky's dream of advancing children's health. They have embraced his philanthropic spirit, and are committed to building a powerful and lasting legacy to his memory.
