Donations = Discoveries: The Research Institute

At SickKids, we know research is key to improving the health of children. For over 50 years, the SickKids Research Institute has made discoveries that have made a difference to children in Canada and around the world. Science will open the doors to improved understanding, prevention, treatment and cure of children's diseases. Our children's health deserves to be a priority. An investment in child health research is an investment in the future.

The Hospital for Sick Children's Research Institute has a staff of 2,000 including approximately 340 principal investigators, 600 trainees (graduate students and research fellows) as well as visiting scientists, laboratory technologists, research assistants and other support staff.

Roughly one third of the Research Institute's budget comes from community donors through SickKids Foundation. Since 1972, SickKids Foundation has granted over $500 million dollars in support of research. Your dollars make the difference.
