SickKids Foundation (the “Foundation”) is committed to working with suppliers that have ethical business policies and practices and that respect the dignity and human rights of all persons and the environment. The Foundation expects its suppliers, including each of their representatives, employees and subcontractors, to operate in a manner that is consistent with these values, and to take all reasonable measures to comply with and abide by the following elements:
Protection of Human Rights. Suppliers should demonstrate respect for basic human rights, including rights to life and liberty, freedom of thought and expression, and equality.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Suppliers should strive to create an equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace environment which respects the dignity of every individual, including but not limited to respect for differences such as race, ethnicity, colour, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability and religion. Suppliers shall not tolerate harassment, discrimination, violence, retaliation and other disrespectful or inappropriate behaviour in their workplace or in their policies related to hiring, promotion, access to training and development, layoffs, and supplier engagements.
Health & Safety. Suppliers should promote a culture of safety and supporting practices and procedures to minimize the risk of injury, illness or death, and operate in compliance with applicable health and safety laws.
Fair Labour Practices. Suppliers should have zero tolerance for use of any form of child or forced labour, slavery, or human trafficking, in any operations or facilities, and comply with applicable labour laws including those relating to wage rates and conditions of employment.
Environment. Suppliers shall consider the impacts of their business activities on local communities and ecosystems and have appropriate management policies and procedures in place to minimize and mitigate environmental impacts and comply with all applicable environmental laws.
Anti-corruption. Suppliers shall engage in fair business practices and shall strictly prohibit, fraud, corruption, bribery and extortion, and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Failure to comply with the above standards may result in the Foundation choosing not to pursue a business relationship with a supplier or choosing to discontinue an existing business relationship with a supplier.
The Foundation may update its Supplier Code of Conduct from time to time by posting an updated version on its website. It is your responsibility to check this Supplier Code of Conduct periodically for changes.
